Membership is open to general practitioners registered in Australasia. Health practitioners in Australia or New Zealand can join as a ‘Friend of the Society’ who are ineligible to vote or hold office.
Join the ASPM Community
The Society also has had a Fellowship Programme acknowledging the skill and achievement of suitably trained and experienced practitioners. Fellows are expected to participate in an ongoing accreditation programme. Refer to the Fellowship Handbook page for details of the requirements for application to Fellowship of the Society.
Applications for Membership of the Australian Society for Psychological Medicine are invited from general practitioners who are currently registered in Australia and others with an interest in mental health. The granting of membership is at the discretion of the executive committee.

The Australian Society for Psychological Medicine aims to connect, train and support medical practitioners in the complex work of caring for the whole person through trauma-informed, strengths focused and culturally respectful approaches. We are passionate about caring for GPs and are aware of the high emotional load of this work on behalf of the community.

Training
ASPM offers GP-designed training, including Level Two Focused Psychological Strategies, along with conferences and access to ongoing psychological skills development through facilitated and in-house modules.
Peer Groups
Peer Reflection Groups provide support, clinical review, and self-care, guided by experienced facilitators. Accredited by RACGP and ACRRM, with facilitator training guidelines in progress.
Stay Connected
Receive monthly e-Newsletters and Facebook updates with training, resources, research, and book reviews. Members can promote events and publications and opt into the online Member Directory.
